Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants Inc.

Our Process

Marketing crude oil, natural gas, NGL’s and sulphur is not “rocket science”.  This analogy is important for two reasons.  First, and perhaps most obvious, is the fact that marketing of energy commodities can be broken down into a series of steps, or a process that can be followed by just about anyone, not just those with a Ph.D. in physics.  Results may vary somewhat, if a layman implements the marketing process instead of a marketing expert.   However, the difference between a bad job of implementing the marketing process and a bad job of launching a rocket into space is enormous!

The second difference between marketing and physics is less obvious, but far more important to understand.  The laws of physics have been discovered over numerous centuries and, once discovered, do not have a habit of changing from year-to-year, month-to-month or day-to-day.  Not so for oil and gas marketing, where the environment is known to be highly volatile and ever-changing.   This is the reason why there is a need to continually monitor the marketplace for change and opportunities and then incorporate this new market intelligence into the marketing process to achieve superior results.  Over a long enough period of time, the cumulative impact of changes to the marketing environment will trigger wholesale changes to the marketing process itself.

As a result, Phoenix’s process is constantly evolving, incorporating new marketing intelligence and adopting the best practices developed by industry or internally by its marketing specialists.   Phoenix’s marketing specialists meet monthly as a group to share new marketing intelligence, brainstorm process issues and discuss potential sources of synergy between two or more of its clients.

The following diagram illustrates the process Phoenix has developed and follows during a client project engagement.
