Mr. Maffitt started his career in 1981 in the Gas Supply Department of Canadian Western Natural Gas Company Limited and Northwestern Utilities Limited where he was involved in gas supply planning, transportation and joint interest. In 1986, he joined Canada Northwest Energy Limited and was later appointed to the position of Manager of Gas Marketing & Supply. While at Canada Northwest, Mr. Maffitt negotiated contracts for a number of direct sales, cogeneration projects and the sale of production located in Italy. In April 1990, Mr. Maffitt formed Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants Inc. and has since provided marketing advice to a number of local small producers, marketing consultants and cogeneration projects. Mr. Maffitt has also been an instructor at numerous seminars sponsored by Petroleum Accountants Society of Canada, The Petroleum Society of CIM, Petroleum Joint Venture Association, Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accountants through Mount Royal College and SAIT, Insight Educational Services, InfoTech, The Conference Board of Canada and the University of Calgary Management Marketing Association.
Mr. Maffitt is a professional engineer and holds memberships in APEGGA, the Petroleum Society of Canada, Petroleum Joint Venture Association and Professional Risk Managers International Association. His company is also a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and Small Explorers and Producers Association of Canada.

Ms. Maffitt joined Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants Inc. in November 1998, after nine years of providing engineering and exploration software front-line support and training for Manalta Coal Ltd.
At Phoenix, Ms. Maffitt is the entire IS department. She is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day functioning of the information systems, as well as all design, development and security of those systems. She is also the Security Officer, Privacy Officer and Compliance/Ethics Officer..
Ms. Maffitt graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Mineral Process Engineering. She is a Professional Engineer and a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta. She has also augmented her experience in computer system security with additional training, including Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) silver certifications: GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst (GCFW) and GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).

Mr. Parson joined Phoenix in 2008 as Marketing Analyst, after completing his MBA at the University of Calgary with a double concentration in Finance and Global Energy Management / Sustainability. During his MBA studies, Mr. Parson also passed the first level of the CFA Examination.
As Marketing Analyst, Mr. Parson provides critical analytical support to Phoenix's management and associates.
Mr. Parson brings with him seven years of industry experience as a petroleum chemist working for two oil and gas service companies. Mr. Parson is a member of the Canadian Society for Chemistry, the Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta and the Calgary CFA Society.

Ms. Peake started her gas marketing career in 1995 with Natural Gas Clearinghouse Ltd. in Calgary as a Market Analyst/Short-Term Trader. From 1997-1999, Ms. Peake was employed as a Producer Supply Representative with NGC Canada Inc./Novagas Clearinghouse Ltd. From 1999 to 2002, she had a similar role, but focused on the development and marketing of financial and physical risk management products with Dynegy Marketing and Trade and Mirant Canada Energy Marketing, Ltd. Ms. Peake started her consulting career with Streamline Energy Group in late 2002.
Ms. Peake joined Phoenix in April, 2009 as Manager, Business Development.
She holds a B.A. (1993) and a Business Management Certificate (1996) from the Univeristy of Calgary. She has also received training in Managing Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction, as well as High Performance Negotiating, and has completed the Canadian Securities Course (1998).

Ms. Powell was previously employed as an Office Manager for both a Chiropractor and a Construction Company. In 1997 Ms. Powell graduated with Honor’s from the Administration program at SouthWestern College in London, Ontario.

Ms. Brumwell brings with her almost thirty years of oil and gas experience working in various capacities within the industry, including four years in the credit department at Gulf Canada Resources. She then worked in the Production Accounting department of several companies including Amoco Canada, Merland Explorations Ltd., D&S Petroleum Consulting Group Ltd., Murphy OilCompany Ltd., Placid Oil Company, Remington Energy Ltd. and Esso Resources, first as an Assistant and later as a Production Accountant. Most recently, Ms. Brumwell worked as a Marketer for Canor Energy Ltd., Inuvialuit Petroleum Company, Samson Canada, Ltd., Ocelot Energy Inc., Star Oil & Gas Ltd. and PanEast Petroleum Corp..
Ms. Brumwell has supplemented her oil and gas experience with a variety of courses in the fields of computers, gas marketing and royalty simplification. She joined Phoenix in November, 1996.

Mr. Dahl entered the Oil and Gas industry with Petro-Canada in 1980 after spending 8 years with the Federal Government in Ottawa and Winnipeg. After spending a few years in a financial budgeting and stewardship role, he became responsible for the optimization of Petro-Canada's non-pipeline connected crude oil and condensate production during the era of pipeline apportionment. In 1989, he joined the NGL and Sulphur Marketing group where he progressed through various assignments including NGL Mix supply and marketing, propane and butane sales and straddle plant supply.
Mr. Dahl moved to Mobil's NGL department in 1997 responsible for day-to-day operations of their NGL Mix and Specification Product supply, marketing, logistics and fractionation activities. In 2001, he joined what is now known as Keyera Energy to manage and develop their condensate marketing, storage and infrastructure business. At various times during his tenure at Keyera, he also provided support to their NGL Mix supply and Butane marketing functions.
Mr. Dahl retired from Keyera in December 2006, but has provided contract services on occasion to them as well as Pembina Pipelines since then. He joined Phoenix as a Senior Associate in January, 2009.
Mr. Dahl has a BA in economics from the University of Winnipeg (1969) and an MBA from the University of Manitoba (1971).

Mrs. Grant brings 11 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with last 8 years spent working in various capacities relating to the marketing of Crude Oil and NGL's. She started with Newport Petroleum in the Engineering department. When Newport was bought out by Hunt Oil Company of Canada she moved over to the Marketing department in the capacity of Marketing Analyst. Within a year she then took the position of Marketing Representative and was responsible for all of HOCC's Crude, NGL's, Sulphur and Gas on the Alliance Pipeline. From 2005-2007, Mrs. Grant was employed by Streamline Energy as a Crude Oil Marketing Representative. She joined Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants in September, 2007.
Mrs. Grant completed the certificate program at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology for Petroleum Engineering Technology in 1999.

Jared Layton began his career in May, 2001 with Reliant Energy Services Canada, where he was involved in various business development initiatives involving the deregulation of electricity in the province of Alberta. Following the demise of merchant energy trading, in the fall of 2002 Mr. Layton began consulting for a consortium of small, privately-held companies, where he was responsible for financial modelling, operations and project due diligence. The consortium’s primary interests consisted of shallow gas production, electricity generation development, retail electricity and various real estate holdings throughout Western Canada and the U.S.
In April, 2004 Mr. Layton joined the Balancing Pool, where he was responsible for the real-time financial operations of 2,000 MW thermal capacity in Alberta, as well as the natural gas account balancing for gas-fired generation units. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Layton joined Enbridge Pipelines as a member of the Oil Sands Business Development group, where he was involved with economic modelling, asset management and negotiations for the development of pipeline and tank initiatives in the Athabasca region. In September, 2006, Mr. Layton joined Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants Inc. where he provides crude oil marketing advice to Phoenix’s local junior producers and trust clients.
Mr. Layton completed his Bachelor of Management (2001) degree, with an International Business concentration at the University of Lethbridge, and is in the process of completing a Masters of Business Administration (2007) at the Edinburgh School of Business, Heriot Watt University, UK.
Jared was born in Calgary, where he currently resides with his wife and three children. Having lived abroad for three years – in Guadalajara Mexico, as a student (2000) and in Belgium and France as a missionary (1995-1997), Jared is completely fluent in both Spanish and French. In his spare time, Jared volunteers with local youth and scouting groups, and has been a volunteer high school football coach at Lester B. Pearson. He canvasses annually for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and is an active member of the University of Lethbridge Alumni, involved in the U of L’s professional mentoring program.

Jim Pearson is a Professional Engineer and was the former Senior Coordinator, Strategic Analysis at Alliance Pipeline, using his business, operations and regulatory knowledge to assess Alliance's current position in the industry and to assist in planning for further growth. During the initial phases of Alliance, he was also a Senior Analyst, Commercial Contracts with involvement in facility agreements with CSOs and input for design of the gas management system.
Between these two positions at Alliance, he was Manager of Gas Marketing Services at Gulf Midstream Services/KeySpan Energy Canada (now Keyera) for two years.
Mr. Pearson also spent over twenty years at Alberta and Southern Gas Co. Ltd. and its affiliate Alberta Natural Gas Company Ltd. Engineering and construction positions for ANG included two ethane recovery expansions at the Cochrane Extraction Plant as well as coordination for the Foothills Prebuild Project. He switched to Alberta and Southern Operations for business analysis before becoming Manager of A&S Operations.
Mr. Pearson joined Phoenix as a Senior Associate in January, 2008.

Ms. Zimmer began her career in 1985 at Atcor Ltd. in the Gas Marketing Accounting Department where she was involved in developing a general pool concept that was essential in meeting contractual obligations held and accounting for third party natural gas purchases and sales to large Alberta industrial markets. In 1988, she joined Poco Petroleums Ltd. and held various positions during her four-year stay including pipeline coordination on ten pipelines, development of a computerized gas marketing system, purchases of short and long-term natural gas supply in three provinces and negotiation of short and long-term sales arrangements across North America. In 1991, Ms. Zimmer joined Summit Resources Limited as a Marketing Representative where she later became the Marketing Manager before she moved on to establish a marketing department in 1994 at a junior has producer called Petromet Resources Limited.
In November, 1998, Ms. Zimmer joined Phoenix Energy Marketing Consultants Inc. as a Senior Associate.
Ms. Zimmer obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction in 1985 from the University of Alberta and also has received a Certified Management Accountant designation (CMA) in 1987. She has served on various industry committees including NOVA Tolls, Tariffs and Procedures Committee, the CAPP NOVA Committee.and the GasEDI 2005 Committee.
